The polishing process is completely mechanically done and proper surface preparation and smoothing is critical with each step. The grinding and polishing process involves several stages. First we grind the surface with an aggressive grit diamond removing existing glues, cream layer and contaminates. We then patch all cracks, pits and impurities and grind smooth. Next we take the surface to a 150 grit hybrid and apply a grout coat to help fill in all the tiny pores and tighten the surface up. After grinding and removing the excess grout coat we begin polishing with resins gradually smoothing the surface to the desired level of shine. At this point we can apply dye stains if color is desired and apply densifier to lock in the color or just densify the surface which will actually make the surface up to 30% stronger. Next we continue polishing to desired level 400 to 1500 grit. Finally, we apply the guard seal coats and high speed burnish the surface with a 3000 grit diamond for a polished concrete finish.. The result is a beautiful, durable floor that’s easy to maintain.
