Proper preparation of every concrete surface is probably the most critical and important step of any flooring or exterior project. That being said, here at C&N we grind all of our interior surfaces. This includes removing any existing glues, mastics, thin sets, contaminates and even the slick cream layer. This makes your concrete surface very porous “like a sponge” to accept any materials needed to take the next steps in your flooring process. All of our concrete grinding / surface preparation equipment is vacuum recovery as well. This means we are able to keep the dust to a minimum and keep a clean area of operation.
Some exterior concrete may need to be ground as well to be prepped correctly. Most exterior concrete is pressure / acid washed and deep cleaned. This is performed in order to be prepped accordingly to accept overlays, stains and sealers. In situations where there is existing stains, paints and/or sealers on the exterior surface we will have them lightly sand blasted. By doing this instead of chemical stripping we are able to keep a cleaner area of operation. Sand blasting removes materials and profiles surfaces on pool decks, driveways, etc. By doing this your concrete surface is like a blank canvas and ready to accept finishing touches. You can apply the best products in the market today but if the concrete isn’t prepped correctly, the longevity of the product is short. Proper Prep is a Critical Must!!!
